Responsibilities:
Execution of the full range of analysis offered by laboratory; achieved by sharing workload amongst himself/herself and the laboratory technicians; accountable for results.
Capable of accurately analyzing routine samples with a fast turn-around time. Able to adapt and modify procedures as required and keeping abreast of analytical method development (e.g. GOST,ASTM, ISO, SMS)
Maintain the laboratory quality system and laboratory information management system (Sample Manager).
Develop and implement improvement proposals for these systems.
Authorize non routine deviation action, for non-critical tests.
Prepare procedures and work instructions for sampling, analysis, chemicals management and reporting, arrange hazard assessments for laboratory activities and define necessary health, safety and environmental (HSE) controls.
Ensure laboratory staff carries out activities in accordance with the work instructions and HSE controls, within established competency levels.
Supervise activities where necessary.
Perform first line maintenance/troubleshooting of laboratory instruments including sophisticated equipment (e.g. ICP, GCs...) and responsible for calibration and maintenance of the respective laboratory equipment.
Maintain effective liaison with the QMI, operations, technology, and environment sections.
Provide advice on analysis methods and results; formulate reports, specifically for troubleshooting purposes.
Provide mentorship to subordinates in laboratory operational matters such as maintenance and calibration of equipment, quality system, and understanding of analytical methods and the management of HSE in laboratory operations.
Will witness, verify and approve the Laboratory Commissioning activities completed by contractor and vendors
Requirements:
B.Sc in Analytical Chemistry (HND minimum) with 6 to 8 years experience in LNG/Gas plant/oilfield laboratory.
Working knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and laboratory information systems.
Experience in coordinating a group of people in a laboratory environment.
