The Lifting Supervisor report to the Construction Superintendents in charge of the activities where the lift are performed. As such the lifting Supervisor may have to report to different Superintendent in accordance to the task given to him. Primarily responsibility of the lifting Supervisors to ensure that all safety measures are in place. The lifting supervisor is responsible for the planning, preparation and execution of the Lifting
Duties include:
• Participate and provide input for the development of detailed methods of lifting for simple lift
• Provide expertise in daily handling & lifting activities including: Categorization of lifts
• Promote safe handling and lifting operation referring Company HSE police and international standard, review engineering calculation for complex and complicated lifts
• Risk assessment and hazard identification
• Selection of equipment for lifting operations
• Ensure for critical lift that all the lifting studies criteria are meets and in particular
o Safety Precautions
o Crane certificates and crane status
o Rigging Equipment status and certification
o Selection of equipment for lifting operations
o Personnel involved in the lifting activities certification.
• Performance of toolbox talks
• Post-job debriefs
• Assessment of completed jobs
• Periodic review of generic lift plans
• Ensure in general that inspections for equipment is done and that unsafe equipment’s are
not use on site
• Provide directions and order for lifting operations;
• To be Involved in plans internal audits of the lifting operations, participates in lifing operations incident investigation and analyses
