Position
Logistics and Import Specialist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated individual who possess a wealth of knowledge in domestic and international freight, import customs clearance and construction project logistics.
Responsibilities
• This position handles day-to-day logistics operation in Russia;
• Issues involving purchase orders to brokers, freight forwarders and carriers;
• Obtains the necessary internal and external transportation documentation and maintains it;
• Tracks the shipments and conducts the necessary actions on order to match delivery schedules;
• Coordinates the delivery with freight forwarders, cargo brokers, carriers, customs brokers and the Job Site.
• Handle Air; Ocean – FCL, LCL, Break Bulk; Barge; Rail; Road – FTL, LTL, Oversized Cargo, Heavy Haul.
• Coordinate import clearance with the customs broker.
• Track shipments.
• Resolve logistics issues expeditiously.
• Establish ongoing routine two-way communications with transportation suppliers.
• Prepare daily logistics reports for the Job Site and coordinate deliveries.
• Maintain Bonded Cargo and Classified Decision Import documentation and communicate the import status of the equipment with the Job Site.
• Book shipments with selected or preferred freight forwarders, cargo brokers or carriers.
• Submit shipping instructions to freight forwarders, cargo brokers, carriers for air, ocean, barge, rail, road transportation.
• Obtain shipping and import clearance documentation and forward it to the freight forwarder/broker/carrier for pre-check.
• Transportation documentation approval.
• Follow up on instruction, cargo receipt, sailing/loading confirmation, and B/L/AWB/CMR.
• Prepare claim reports for transportation loss and damage.
• Maintain the shipping documentation.
• Prepare RFQ for transportation by air, sea, barge, rail and road.
• Negotiate rates with freight forwarders, cargo brokers or carriers if needed.
Requirements
• Bachelors degree or equivalent required;
• 10+ years of experience in transportation industry (freight brokerage or freight forwarding, import export department with shipper/importer);
• Excellent knowledge of INCOTERM 2000/2010;
• Excellent knowledge of transportation documentation (CMR, B/L, AWB);
• Excellent knowledge of Russian import customs regulations and procedures;
• Experience in domestic and/or international transportation of break bulk, oversized and heavy cargo – preferred;
• Experience in capital project logistics – preferred;
• Fluent in English and Russian
